Cef's Jeje Lyrics Video
Cef, a prominent artist in the Afro Reggae genre, approached me to create a lyrics video for his song "Jeje." The primary objective was to produce a visually engaging video that focused primarily on the song's lyrics.
Project Objectives:
1) To create a lyrics video that emphasizes the song's lyrics and message.
2) To use elements and objects representing the lyrics to enhance the visual storytelling.
Creative Concept:
The creative concept was centered around bringing the lyrics to life through visually appealing cardboard paper cutout animations. I aimed to craft a narrative that enhanced the lyrics and immersed the audience in the Afro Reggae atmosphere of the song.
Design and Animation:
Lyric Emphasis: The lyrics took center stage, with each line displayed prominently on the screen. I used a combination of creative typography and handwritten elements to make the lyrics visually captivating.
Cardboard Cutout Style: To adhere to the artist's preference, I designed all elements, characters, and objects in a cardboard paper cutout style with the use of Adobe Illustrator and few green screens. This style added depth and texture to the visuals while maintaining an organic and handcrafted feel.
Object Representation: Elements and objects representing the lyrics were introduced throughout the video. For example, the lyrics mentioned "Season," a cardboard cutout city. These elements added a layer of storytelling and engagement to the video.
Afro Reggae Aesthetics: The color palette incorporated earthy tones, such as browns and greens, along with vibrant reds, yellows, and blues to capture the Afro Reggae vibe.
Animation Techniques:
1) Smooth transitions between scenes and lyrics ensured a seamless flow.
2) Objects and elements moved in rhythm with the music, enhancing the connection between visuals and lyrics.
3) Parallax scrolling added depth to the cardboard cutout scenes, making them visually dynamic.
Creating the "Jeje" lyrics video for Cef allowed me to blend creative storytelling with unique visual aesthetics. By focusing on the lyrics and employing cardboard paper cutout animations, I not only enhanced the audience's connection to the song's message but also the power of visual storytelling in complementing the essence of music while maintaining an artist's unique style and vision.
